Who We Are
The Eastern Australia Dementia Training and Study Centre (EADTSC) has been established as part of the Australian Government’s Dementia Initiative.
The EADTSC is one of four Centres nationally that promote dementia studies in Australian graduate and undergraduate curriculum as well as providing tertiary dementia career pathways.
The EADTSC supports coordination and promotional activities that will raise the profile of dementia studies, focusing on the development and support of specialist dementia education and training opportunities and increase the number of health professionals competent in this area, including nurses, medical practitioners, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, indigenous health workers, psychologists, social workers, and population health students.
The EADTSC is led by the University of Wollongong in partnership with Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University, Hammond Care Group, UnitingCare Ageing, Blue Care, and RSL Care.
Located within the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Indigenous Health in
conjunction
with the Centre for Health Initiatives (CHI) (formally known as the
Centre for Health, Behaviour and Communication Research) at the
University of Wollongong, there is also an EADTSC Queensland node based within the School of Nursing at the QUT. The EADTSC provides services to metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas of New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory.
